How naked can you get?
We all ‘put on a face’, we all dress up. We all mask our true feelings sometimes – in an attempt not to upset or make others uncomfortable.
That’s OK. We are social beings. Yet when do you make time to take that mask off? When and where can you show your true colours? How easy is it for you to truly, authentically, passionately be yourself?
Can you choose to let yourself be seen? To move out of the shadows can feel risky. To emerge from the wings onto the stage can feel scary. I get it. But finding a safe space to let the light find you, in all your soul-naked truth, is liberating.
Dance has been life-changing for me in this way. To move through stuck, tense places in my body and find free expression, to find the way my body wants to move and simply follow it, this is everyday magic. And when I do this with others, allowing myself to be seen and witnessed, that magic is amplified. I find a new belonging, acceptance, and an honouring of who I am.
Curious to see how dance can be medicine for your body and soul? Listen to some of my recent playlists on Soundcloud here.
And if you’re feeling a call to dance with others, I’m running online sessions in April – links below for you to book.
Together, we can move from the shadows into the light. Together, we can honour the truth of who we are.
